Artwork Requirements

  • IN GENERAL art can be submitted on CD-Rom, Zip Disks, floppy disks or email.
  • Both PC or MAC formats are acceptable. If there is a choice of either formats, send in MAC formatted.
  • If artwork is submitted for SLANT TOP and is a raster image the resolution should be at least 300 dpi at 2” x 2” sent as a .tif or hi res jpg. A raster image being any image that is scanned in, for instance a photograph. If the artwork is a vector image, for example something created in a drawing program, see programs listed below for accepted files.
  • When possible, please save files in the native format.
  • If the file you wish to submit is not listed we may still be able to use it if it is saved or exported as an .eps or a .tif.
  • If artwork being submitted is for DURAPRINT® or LASER ENGRAVING and is a raster image the resolution should be 1200 dpi and sized to at minimum the dimensions it will be imprinted. If it is a vector image the same specifications that applies to SLANT TOP applies here.
  • If submitted artwork contains a layout with copy and images placed for CARDS or STORYBOARDS please send it in any native format that is listed below. You must remember to send all the fonts and images.
  • In all cases sending in a hard copy with mailed disks or faxed hard copy with emails will insure that digital art received is correctly interpreted. This is especially true with CARDS or STORYBOARDS imprinting since there can be many elements to the layout.
  • If there is no layout but there are separate images that Quill will layout for you, raster images should be 300 dpi at the size it will be imprinted or larger. Line art or solid imprinted images should be 1200 dpi and sized to at least the dimensions it will be imprinted. Vector images should follow the guidelines that apply for SLANT TOP imprinting.
  • FONT STYLES – Quill’s font library is fairly extensive and if you know the name of the font style you want for typesetting or if you can fax a copy of the style you want we can try to match it as close as possible. Otherwise we may ask you to supply us with the font.
  • If art is sent as CorelDRAW or Illustrator please convert all fonts to vector images by converting to paths or outlines.
  • Save back all Quark files to 6.5
  • Microsoft Word is only accepted for text content ONLY and not as a layout program or to embed images.
  • Pdfs and low res jpg are accepted for reference for placement and color breaks and can be sent in ADDITION to the above art files.
  • Large files (over 5 Meg) may be compressed using Stuffit (MAC) or Zip (PC) programs before emailing.
  File Formats we accept are:
• Adobe Photoshop (.psd, .tif, .tiff, jpg-hi res only)
• Adobe Illustrator (.ai, .eps)
• Freehand
• InDesign
• Quark
  File Formats that are NOT accepted are:
• Powerpoint (.ppt)
• Publisher
• Any spread sheet or database programs.
